A. Le Coq Special 0.5 L - 6X

A. Le Coq Special is a pale lager with an alcohol content of 5.2%, produced in Tartu. It has a deep golden color and a fuller flavor than lighter everyday lagers.

The main feature of Special is the balance between the caramel richness of the malt and hop bitterness. A smooth sweetness comes through first, followed by fresher, more expressive hop notes. As a result, the beer remains easy to drink while still avoiding a thin or watery taste.

The aroma of Special is distinctly hoppy, with subtle malty and bready notes. It has a little more character than a completely neutral lager, but without excessive bitterness or heaviness.

The bitterness is 19 IBU — enough for the hops to be clearly noticeable without dominating the flavor. The beer has a deep golden-yellow color, while the original gravity is 11.9%.

The ingredients are quite simple: water, barley malt, and hop extracts. It is the combination of malt and selected hop varieties that gives Special its fuller and more expressive flavor.

A. Le Coq Special was launched in 2007 to mark the company’s 200th anniversary. The beer was created as a special anniversary brew and was originally intended to become one of the brand’s key products. It was made using a dedicated recipe, special yeast, Crystal malt, and selected hop varieties.

Special is best served chilled to 6–8 °C. It pairs well with grilled meat, burgers, sausages, heartier snacks, or simply whenever you want a cold pale beer with a slightly richer taste.
