Jameson Original 0.7 L

Jameson Original is a blended Irish whiskey with an alcohol content of 40%, produced at Midleton Distillery in County Cork. It combines traditional Irish pot still whiskey with grain whiskey.

One of the main features of Jameson is triple distillation. It gives the whiskey a smoother, more balanced character, so it does not hit with harshness from the first sip and instead opens up gradually.

The flavor begins with a light sweetness, followed by spicy and nutty notes. A little later, woody notes and a subtle influence from sherry casks become noticeable. The result is a fairly rich flavor without heaviness or pronounced smokiness.

The aroma of Jameson is gentle and pleasant: a little grain, floral notes, wood, and light sweetness. If the whiskey is allowed to rest in the glass for a while, the aroma becomes softer and opens up more noticeably.

After distillation, Jameson is aged in oak casks for at least four years. These include casks previously used for bourbon and sherry. They add woody, sweet, and dried-fruit notes to the whiskey.

Jameson does not require an elaborate serve. It can be enjoyed neat, with ice, or with a little water. Mixed with ginger ale and lime, it makes a light, refreshing cocktail, while cola offers a simple option for an evening with friends.

The history of Jameson began in 1780 with John Jameson’s distillery on Bow Street in Dublin. Today, production takes place in Midleton, but the style remains recognizable: a smooth Irish whiskey that does not try to be more complicated than it is.
