Beefeater London Dry is a classic English gin with an alcohol content of 40%, still produced directly in London at the Beefeater distillery in Kennington. The 0.7 L version currently sold in Estonia is also listed at 40% ABV.

The dominant flavor in Beefeater is juniper. It comes through immediately, but lemon and orange peel also open up clearly alongside it, making the gin feel fresh and citrus-forward rather than simply dry and herbal. A light spiciness remains in the background and adds more interest to the flavor.

Beefeater is made with nine botanicals: juniper, lemon peel, Seville orange peel, almond, angelica root and seeds, coriander seeds, orris root, and liquorice. This combination creates the classic London Dry Gin profile.

Before distillation, all nine ingredients are left to infuse in the spirit base for 24 hours. During this time, the aromas have a chance to blend together, after which the mixture is distilled in traditional stills. This method remains one of the distinctive features of Beefeater production.

Beefeater works especially well in simple serves. The classic option is plenty of ice, tonic, and a slice of lemon or another citrus fruit. Thanks to its pronounced juniper and citrus notes, the gin does not get lost in tonic and retains its own character.

It is also well suited to a Martini, Gimlet, White Lady, and other classic cocktails. But if you do not want to complicate things, a good tonic and ice already give you everything you need.

The history of Beefeater is connected with James Burrough, who created the gin recipe in the 19th century. The modern London Dry still follows that recipe, while production remains in London at the distillery in Kennington.
